Scusset Beach State Reservation is a 380-Acre recreational area at the north eastern end of the Cape Cod Canal, managed by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management. Carr, Lynch and Sandell's Master Plan for the site struck a new balance between natural resource conservation and recreation, based on an assessment of environmental conditions and existing use patterns. The plan proposed preservation of critical habitats and restoration of degraded primary dunes and a secondary dune trough saltwater marsh. The plan envisioned wildlife corridor/ buffer zones between the primary recreation activity areas, each with new or improved facilities: Beach house, Park House, Camping Sites, Interpretive Center and Playgrounds.
