Prudential Center

Boston, MA

Carr, Lynch, Hack and Sandell's  redevelopment plan for the Prudential  Center, Boston's landmark 27-acre development, involved a process of extensive public participation and review. The plan proposed the addition of 1.6 million square feet of office, retail and housing, the total redevelopment of the pedestrian level, a series of enclosed arcades knitting the Back Bay and South End back together and a new garden at the heart of the complex. During the implementation, Carr, Lynch, Hack and Sandell designed a network of streetscapes abutting the center and the new garden south if the Prudential Tower, over the parking garage connecting to the street level 20ft below the arcade level.
