Lowell Heritage State Park

Lowell, MA

Carr, Lynch, Hack and Sandell designed the entry plazas to the Lowell Heritage State Park. The park celebrates the city's industrial history and displays a number of large artifacts from 19th Century Lowell, including canal locks and an 18-Foot belt pulley taken out of one of the historic mills. The spaces are designed to serve visitors to the park, downtown workers, and surrounding residents. The fenced garden in the Eastern Plaza was designed to recall the forecourt to the train station that was located in the same location in the 19th century.
