Jim Sandell is an architect and urban designer with over 40 years of experience in the United States and abroad. His work is well known his integration of new buildings into historic, natural and urban fabrics, and for his flexible thinking in visualizing the renovation of existing spaces for new uses and/or to fit today's lifestyles. . His superior graphic abilities enable him to bring ideas to life for both clients and the public.

 

Mr. Sandell earned his Bachelor in Architecture degree at the University of Minnesota and his Master in Architecture at Harvard University. While at Harvard, Mr. Sandell won the prestigious Rotch Traveling Fellowship, enabling him to travel and independently study European New Towns. In 1987 Jim Sandell joined Carr, Lynch Associates as a Principal, after 20 years of collaborative efforts. He was elected by his Boston Society of Architecture/ AIA contemporaries to serve for three years on the Honors and Awards committee. He has served his community as architect for the Cohasset Common Historic District Commission and architect for the Cohasset School Facilities Committee. He recently sat on Cohasset's Design Review Board, a position appointed by the town's Board of Selectmen and is currently a trustee for the Paul Pratt Public Town Library.
