Carr, Lynch and Sandell developed a plan for 11 new homes within the grounds of Eastbourne lodge in Newport, Rhode Island. The site is within an historic district of Newport and was subject to detailed review by city boards and the public. The homes as proposed are planned in an estate setting that frames the historic lodge building which will be restored and converted into 10 additional condominiums. Working with a team of engineers and arborists, CLS created a plan that fits with the historic context of the neighborhoods and preserves the great majority of the mature specimen trees on the site.
