Brewer Fountain - Preservation

Boston, MA

The Brewer Fountain (1868) occupies a prominent location along the Tremont Street edge of the Boston Common. The Fountain's Location is in close proximity to the Boston Visitor's Center and the start of the Freedom Trail, and as a result, it is visited by many tourists to the city.

Carr, Lynch and Sandell, working with a highly specialized consultant team, provided the City of Boston with the fountain's historical context and an assessment of the extent of its neglected condition. CLS then worked with the City to determine the best approach to the repair of the fountain and coordinated repair and restoration of the plumbing elements as well as the sculpture.
