The creation of a fine built environment is, of necessity, a collaborative enterprise. Neither elected officials, public administrators, design professionals, developers nor community interest groups can create the environment they seek without the cooperation of many others. Carr, Lynch and Sandell therefore approaches Master Planning / Urban Design challenges by first identifying, with the sponsoring client, those groups and individuals that must be involved, and then by developing a process in which each one can make a creative contribution to the solution. In this way, the plan or design will engage and resolve the full range of social, physical, environmental, and economic issues that gave rise to the project.

This approach involves sensitive management. The collaborative process must be both engaging and efficient in time and money. Depending on the requirements of particular projects, Carr, Lynch and Sandell will undertake them on its own, as the leader of a team, in joint venture with another firm or as a team member. We take pride in our ability to complete projects on time and on budget while providing excellent design, responsiveness to the client's desires and the technical competence needed to achieve a successful result.
